So, this was a bit of a new on me. I was approached by Helen of Ellie Brook Photography Who was looking for a simple piece of wood that she could lie newborn babies on to photograph. She wanted something with a natural edge that was smoothed, finished and packed lots of character.
I found a nice piece of sycamore that I thought fit the criteria. Once the wood was selected it was out with the sanders. The wood was simply finished with a clear wax that really helped to lift the natural colours & grain of the wood.
A fairly simple process that can be adapted for making a host of items such as chopping / cheese boards, signs, table tops etc... All of which can be engraved to your design.
