So from finishing sanding and waxing the wood the next step was to engrave the chainsaw.
I quite enjoy the engraving process although much practice is still required! I roughly sketch the shape that I want select the burr for the engraving tool and away we go. It can be interesting engraving into hardwood as the burr wants to follow the grain of the wood but with practice you get use to it. Once I am happy with the shape I spray over the area with an aerosol leave to dry then sand to remove the unwanted paint.
I then cut the wood to size, gave the edges a final sand and stuck the steel to the wood.
I would like to say a big thankyou to Rusty Ape for sorting the steelwork and educating me in the process required to get from a scribble on a piece of paper to and actual cut out piece of steel. Looking forward to sending him my next batch of ideas!
